Joan Wasser, in arte Joan As Police Woman, è una cantautrice polistrumentista della scena di New York che vanta uncurriculum straordinario. Ha infatti suonato con Jeff Buckley, Nick Cave, Rufus Wainwright, Black Beetle, Dambuilders,Those Bastard Souls, Lou Reed, David Sylvian, Joseph Arthur, Sheryl Crow e ha a lungo collaborato con Antony & TheJohnsons. Joan sfugge a ogni classificazione, viene da studi classici (ha fatto parte anche dell’orchestra sinfonica di Boston) e piega uno strumento come il violino alle regole della musica rock, alternandolo alla chitarra e al piano,innescando una forza innovativa e dirompente nelle canzoni. Si è affermata in Europa e America con la pubblicazione nel 2006 dell’album Real Life come una delle voci più innovative e intriganti del panorama internazionale. Nel 2008 il suo secondo lavoro To Survive ha confermato il suo talento. The Deep Field, il cui titolo si riferisce a una porzione minuscola e remota dello spazio, è il suo ultimo lavoro da cui prende forma questo concerto. Il nuovo album inizia con le parole “Voglio che t’innamori di me”, e continua a esprimere una spudorata voglia di vivere.
