DESCRIZIONE EVENTO

John De Leo (vocals, live looping sampler, toy karaoke machine, laryngophone) and Fabrizio Tarroni (guitar and vocals) will be the headliners of the only concert scheduled in Bagnacavallo (RA) as part of the travelling Crossroads festival. The event takes place on Friday 19 June at the Cloister of the San Francesco Complex, starting at 9.00 pm.

John De Leo’s voice has made its mark with its myriad tonal transformations across the realms of rock, jazz and contemporary music. In addition to his success with Quintorigo (of which he was co-founder and lead vocalist from 1992 to 2004; after a 21-year hiatus, 2025 saw their reunion), De Leo has taken part in numerous theatre productions and has been a regular on the national jazz scene alongside Enrico Rava, Paolo Fresu, Fabrizio Bosso, Gianluca Petrella, Gianluigi Trovesi, Stefano Bollani, Danilo Rea, Rita Marcotulli, Roberto Gatto…

De Leo has raised Italian singer-songwriting far above a mere collage of sparsely harmonised lyrics. With his voice, which is a chameleonic musical instrument, De Leo has very few peers on the Italian music scene; he can rather be considered an heir to the vocal experiments of Demetrio Stratos or Cathy Berberian. This uniqueness has always been evident throughout his career, marked by collaborations – not only musical – with Stewart Copeland, Uri Caine, Louis Andriessen, Trilok Gurtu, Stefano Benni, Banco del Mutuo Soccorso, Carlo Lucarelli, Franco Battiato, Ivano Fossati, Alessandro Bergonzoni and many others.

His musical partnership with guitarist Fabrizio Tarroni dates back to the very beginning of De Leo’s career. Capable of playing his semi-acoustic Gibson guitar as if it were a percussion instrument, Tarroni blends this original technique with John’s ideas and eclectic vocals.
